Val-d’Or, December 16th 2009 – The Board of directors of the Secretariat is proud to announce the election of Dr. Ted Moses O.Q.; as president of the Secretariat to the Cree Nation Abitibi-Témiscamingue Economic Alliance.

Dr. Ted Moses currently presides over multi-million dollars corporations such as the Cree Nation Trust, Petronor, 9143-1981 Québec Inc. (NEMAO), Apitsiu Construction Ltd., Kaweshekami Environment Inc. and EASA Mechanic.

Val-d’Or Mayor Fernand Trahan also Vice-President of the Secretariat said:  “Dr. Ted Moses is not new to the Secretariat as he co-founded it along with me, Albert Diamond and current coordinator Pierre Ouellet.  He is also a great business leader who believes strongly in Economic Alliance between Crees and Abitibi-Témiscamingue.”

For Dr. Ted Moses: “I am pleased and honored to be distinguished as the President of the Secretariat with its ambitions, challenges and I look forward in bringing our already good business relationships to another level.” In support, Mr. Pierre Ouellet added: “I will miss greatly Albert Diamond, however it is an honor to have again a personal friend, a great business leader and such an international figure to preside over the Secretariat for its continued developments identified in our five year Strategic Plan.”

Dr. Ted Moses received his education from McGill University. He holds two honorary doctorates from University of Saskatchewan and Concordia University, and the Quebec National Assembly awarded him the highest Quebec government distinction as a member of  l’Ordre du Québec. He was extensively involved in the negotiation of the social, economic and political development of the Cree Nation under the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement, 1975 and La Paix des Braves Agreement, 2002.
